Blog 3 - Modern Standards: The Confusion of Love and Money.

In today’s world, the concept of love has become increasingly distorted—especially under the influence of social media. For many, standards have shifted from emotional depth to material value. A Birkin bag, designer labels, or expensive dinners have become symbols of affection. Somewhere along the way, love became transactional and conditional.

This modern mindset pushes the idea that if a man isn’t spending a certain amount of money on you, he doesn’t care. We often hear phrases like, “If he wanted to, he would.” But this blanket statement overlooks a crucial truth: a good man does what he can within his means. Whether he’s a father, a brother, or a partner, he shows love through support, effort, and consistency, not just money.

Love is not measured in pounds or possessions. It’s in the way someone listens, supports your dreams and tries—even when it’s not easy. When we equate love with luxury, we risk losing sight of the genuine acts of devotion that money can’t buy.

A man not being able to afford every luxury doesn’t mean he’s doing too little—it may just mean that your expectations are rooted in greed, ignorance or a lack of gratitude. Relationships built on material standards are fragile, because material things can be take from us at any given moment. But effort, sacrifice, and emotional presence are timeless.

We should realign our standards. Love is shown in consistency, It’s in dedication, not designer goods. Money may add comfort, but it should never be the measure of someone’s heart.
